Fly Fishing Open Day

Our Open Day is on Saturday, 6th May 2017   9.30am – 4pm, on Gargrave Village Green (postcode BD23 3RT).

This 2017 Event was much bigger  than ever before, with many stands, demonstrations and activities.  We’re promoting the Club to existing and possible future members, and especially to juniors and returning anglers.  Everyone is welcome to come along – whatever their age and whether they fish or not.

ALL proceeds from the event went to the Wild Trout Trust, to promote their nationally-important work to conserve and improve habitat and environment for aquatic and stream-side fauna and flora.

There were:

  • Stands and displays from Angling Clubs, as well as from Fishing and Conservation organisations.
  • Demonstrations on and in the river, which can be viewed from the river bank.
  • A raffle and many other activities for everyone to take part in.
  • Free ‘Have A Go’ tuition, on general and specialist casting techniques.
  • Advice on fishing tackle and equipment.

Advertising and Publicity

BCAA advertised the Open Day on Radio StrayFM and Dales DAB radio during the two weeks starting 23 April 2017.

And there was coverage of the Open Day, too, in a Yorkshire Post article published 1 May.
