Fly Fishing Open Day

The 2018 Open Day is on Saturday 2nd June 2018

If you cannot make this day, and if you’d like an introduction to one of our fisheries, please contact the Fly Secretary, who may be able to advise.

An Open Day is held each year during the early trout season at Gargrave/Broughton on the River Aire. Any angler wanting to learn a little about Fly Fishing or improve his/her skills is welcome to come along for advice on fishing techniques, choosing the right equipment and to get free casting tuition at the waterside. In previous years we have also had kick-sampling and demonstrations from Fly Fishing professional and instructors. There is usually a small charge made, which is donated to the Wild Trout Trust.

Many anglers have learnt the basics of fly casting, tackle selection and water-craft at these sessions and have often had their first ‘fly-caught’ trout before the day is over.

If you are unable to attend this event, but want to develop your fly-fishing skills or are looking for help and assistance at the waterside, the Fly Section Secretary may be able to advise about a BCAA member who can help.

For further details about Open Day – and to book your place – or waterside fly-fishing help, please contact the Fly Secretary – see contact details here.
