Respecting limits on BCAA river beats.

Members may not realise it but our bailiffs constantly monitor our waters and regularly provide feedback. As do normal members.
You may not always see a bailiff as once you are known they are likely to leave you to fish in peace.
One of the observations that they have recently made is centred on members straying off BCAA beats.
It is incumbent on all members to be fully conversant with rules and to observe where they may fish by studying the maps which are readily available online.
Many of our waters have other organisations fishing rights opposite or even intermittently along the bank which BCAA has rights to. An example of this is on the Wharfe at Buckden where another angling organisation has the opposite bank and some fields in between our fishing.
We ask that you respect this arrangement at all times.

BCAA game waters again open for fishing.

With the recent cooler weather the water temperature in the rivers has dropped, it is currently around 16 degrees at Gargrave, so the fly sub committee are pleased to say that all BCAA game waters are again open to fishing.

Closure of some BCAA game waters due to prolonged hot weather

As you are aware we are in an extended period where we have had very little rain to maintain water quality in our rivers, we are are also in a period of extended high temperatures. Both these situations will place fish under stress and we should take every precaution to protect our fish stock and not to increase that stress through angling activity. Therefore, effective immediately and until further advice, we are closing angling on the following beats:

R.Aire – Gargrave/Broughton and Funkirk
R. Wharfe – Buckden and Hubberholme

These waters are the most vulnerable at this time. Others may be added if the current situation becomes prolonged. We will continue to update members via this page and also by email.
